Russian buyers show resilience to worldwide trends
The first important Russian overseas real estate show for the autumn season took place in central Moscow on 2-3 October 2009.
With the number of visitors on par to previous events, 6,061 unique visitors over 2 days, the organisers were able to, once again produce an excellent opportunity for International real estate developers and agents to meet the growing number of potential Russian buyers.
170 companies representing 33 countries participated at the fully booked, 5th Moscow International Investment Show again held at the centrally located and convenient T-Module exhibition hall. Most stands were accommodated in the central hall and the Bulgarian sector was housed in a temporary pavilion specially constructed for the event.
Realising the importance of the first autumn show in the current economic situation, the organisers paid special attention to ensure a steady flow of potential buyers during the two days. The result of an increased and highly targeted advertising campaign ensured interested buyers rather than low quality, general public.
The organisers, the aiGroup have more than 7 years experience and as a Russian based company with Western management, have the advantage of fully understanding the nature of Russian buyers whilst respecting the special needs of their participating companies.
An independent survey at the Investment Show, conducted by 1-property.ru indicated that 62% of the Russian visitors were anticipating purchasing property abroad within the next 6 months with 78% believing that the financial slowdown in Russia was now over. Further data indicated that the most requested countries were Bulgaria, Spain, Cyprus, Montenegro and Turkey.
However it was apparent that the interest from Russian buyers continues to be a complete range of prices, properties and destinations with considerable interest also being shown in Finland, Panama and even Vietnam, participating for the first time.
The aigroup is now preparing for the St. Petersburg International Property Show to be held 16&17 October followed by their flagship event, the Moscow International Property Show 13&14 November.
